Charges make me more determined: Assange


Wikis founder Julian Assange has made his first public statement since being arrested, saying the sex charges against him have only incrsed his determination.Mr Assange's message from inside London's Wandsworth prison was relayed through his mother Christine Assange on Tuesday, ahd of a bail hring at Westminster Magistrates Court.
Ms Assange wrote down her son's comments during a 10-minute phone conversation from inside the prison, Seven Network reported.
Advertisement: Story continues below "My convictions are unfaltering. I remain true to the idls I have expressed. This circumstance shall not shake them," he wrote.
"If anything, this process has incrsed my determination, that they are true and correct."
Mr Assange also commented on the companies which stopped processing donations to his whistleblower website.
"We now know that Visa, MasterCard, PayPal and others are instruments of US foreign policy. It's not something we knew before.
"I am calling on the world to protect my work and my people from these illegal and immoral attacks."
Ms Assange, who travelled to the UK to be nr Julian, said he was being held in solitary confinement in the prison's basement.
When asked by Seven what the brief conversation mnt to her, she said: "I can't put it into word. I am connected back with him again. I've got the connection".
"I told him how people all over the world in all sorts of countries were standing up with placards and squling out for his freedom and justice, and he was very hrtened by that.
"As a mother, I am asking the world to stand up for my brave son."
Mr Assange has been moved to segregation for his own safety as he awaits Tuesday's (UK time) hring on a Swedish request that he be extradited over sex charges.
